Lauren Symmons

My client is seeking specific experience to assist in the development of its ISSP to clearly define the future technology platforms and environments required to enable the organisation to meet its strategic priorities.

The ISSP will feed into the long-term vision, goals and objectives of the organisation, as well as developing a comprehensive and integrated view of annual work planning, decision making and performance monitoring. This ultimately feeds into how they create increasing value for its customers and New Zealanders over the medium to long term, within the available funding.

The ISSP will also describe the investment and implementation approach to move from their current state to the defined future state and develop a high-level business case and roadmap to articulate key milestones on the journey towards the defined future. It is expected that the roadmap will consider a range of factors: technology requirements (for example network and infrastructure, integration, interoperability and applications), information management, service requirements (functional and non-functional in response to business needs), enabling policy and process changes, people capability and capacity, and will include a plan for renewing/replacing legacy systems.

Responsibilities of the role

The Enterprise Architect will provide wide-reaching technical architectural expertise and work under the direction of Ministry management and in conjunction with Ministry technical and business staff. This role will report to the ISSP Project Director.
  • 10+ years of substantial professional experience as an Enterprise Architect across complex organisational environments & ambiguity with a proven ability to deliver architectural services and work products
  • Working knowledge and experience of best practice enterprise architecture frameworks
  • Strong theoretical base in enterprise architecture and ISSP, with ability to apply best practice principles with practical context and constraint, and use creativity to develop right-sized solutions
  • Ability to coordinate contributions of other specialists to complete an enterprise-wide perspective on architectural artefacts

We need an agile, flexible, resourceful person who is able to deliver under pressure.  This person will need to know how to contribute as part of a successful and driven team.
